FOR ‘PROBLEM’ LIQUIDS.

UFM-50This fixed installation Doppler flowmeter is ideal for contaminated or aerated liquids containing more than 10 % solids or air bubbles, as a result of which other types of flowmeters are quickly damaged. Think of wastewater, chemicals, acids, slurries, abrasives and viscous liquids.

Because the sensor of the UFM-50 is mounted onto the exterior of the pipe or tube, it can not be affected by the medium inside. This means no maintenance, no contamination of the sensor, no obstruction to the free flow of the liquid, no pressure loss, no corrosion and no pipes that need to be opened for the installation of measuring equipment. The display housing can be mounted in a convenient location nearby the installation itself.

Advantages clamp-on (non-invasive) flow measuring:

  • No contamination of the sensor
  • No flow obstruction
  • No pressure drop
  • No corrosion
  • No need to open up pipe for installation
  • Less expensive than inline measurement

Recommended for liquids containing suspended solids or bubbles minimum size of 100 microns, minimum concentration 75 ppm. Sensor mounts on vertical or horizontal pipes. For example: wastewater, chemicals, acids, slurries, abrasives and viscous liquids.

Suitable is any tube material that conducts ultrasonic sound waves such as PVC, (carbon and stainless) steel, cast iron, fiber glass and lined pipes with liner bonded to pipe wall. Avoid pipes with loose insertion liners and pipe walls which contain air (concrete, wood etc.)

Sensor mounting on the outside of a tube or pipe (diameter ≥ 12.7 mm), placed both horizontally and vertically.
Location : 6-10 pipe diameters from elbows, tees (turbulence increasing devices) and >30 pipe diameters from pumps, controlling valves and pipe discharge.

The UFM-50 operates based on doppler-technology. This enables the instrument to provide flow data for liquids containing solid particles and / or air bubbles, or a turbulent flow. To measure the flow, an acoustic signal is reflected from these (moving) particles or air bubbles to the sensor.

We can imagine that you are only incidentally in need of flow metering equipment. With us you can rent the UFM-50 per day or per week. Perform the measurements yourself, or leave it to our service engineers. We are happy to assist you with technical advice and support.
